Kenny, Windom to clean up Lyndale Avenue

The Lyndale Avenue Clean-up will be held May 17 from 8 a.m. to noon, organized by members of the Lyndale Avenue South Renewal- from Creek to Crosstown (LASR-CC) group.

Residents who want to help are meeting in the Kenny neighborhood at Coldwell Banker Burnett, 5516 Lyndale Ave. S., where coffee, juice and muffins will be provided for clean-up volunteers. For more information, contact Ron Lischeid at 869-6362.

Lischeid, a Windom resident and LASR-CC member, has done plenty of clean-up on his own, said Dan Quirk, outgoing president of the Kenny Neighborhood Association and Kenny representative to LASR-CC. Quirk said Lischeid had, with some help, removed brush and weeds overgrowing greenspace at businesses along Lyndale. Quirk said Lischeid has also worked with the city and the Park Board to remove excess shrubs and graffiti in the area.

Quirk said it was encouraging to see a resident put in the effort to make the neighborhood look nicer.
