Eight-unit Stevens Square condo plan advances

The Planning Commission has approved a conditional use permit and site plan for an eight-unit condo in Stevens Square/Loring Heights neighborhood.

The Pleasant Condos Project, 1926 Pleasant Ave. S. would convert an existing 1917 building into two market-rate condos and expand the building to the west, adding six more condo units, according to the application.

The project still needs City Council approval. If all goes well, construction could start in June, said Charleen Zimmer of Zan Associates, who is developing the project.

Most of the units would have two bedrooms and sell on average in the low-$300,000 range, Zimmer said. The project would have seven enclosed parking spaces and a party room or an extra bedroom available for guest rental.

"We will be doing advance sales so people can select amenities they want in their individual units," Zimmer said.

The units would have wood floors and open floor plans, and range from 880 to 1,647 square feet, she said.

Bruce Knutson Architects designed the building. Danbar Homes would build it, Zimmer said. The project has no public subsidies.
