The Minneapolis Police Department's 5th precinct, 3101 Nicollet Ave., is hosting an open house on Saturday, May 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The open house is being hosted in celebration of National Law Enforcement Week.
The event will feature a performance by the police band at 12:30 p.m., preceded by lunch, which will be provided by the precinct's advisory council. Two drawings will be held for children's bikes.
Displays will be set up featuring information on topics such as the Emergency Response Unit, traffic, police K-9s, mounted horse patrol, bike demonstrations, safety tips and a fingerprint information booth. The Police Athletic League (PAL) and the recently downsized Community Crime Prevention/SAFE unit will also have a table, featuring crime-prevention literature.
