Bike lane lingo

Fog line: A fog line is a line that defines the edge of the driving lane, while creating an implied bike lane while still allowing street parking. The implied bike lane runs along side the driver's side of parked cars. Signage is included on the road to alert drivers and cyclists to share the road.

Defined bike lane: A defined bike lane is a legal bike lane, striped as such. It outlines the lane reserved solely for bike traffic, to differentiate from the driving lane.

Bumpout: The curb is swelled to create a boulevard. This is done on mostly street corners, but one will also go alongside Lyndale Farmstead Park. They are a traffic calming measure; by narrowing the roads, drivers slow down. They also shorten pedestrian crossings and discourage parking too close to the street corner.
