27 local high school seniors honored

Twenty-seven seniors who attend Southwest Minneapolis high schools are semifinalists in the 2003 National Merit Scholarship Competition. The students attended Southwest High School, Minnehaha Academy, The Blake School and Breck School.

National Merit Semifinalists are picked from the top 1 percent Pre-Stanford Achievement Test (PSAT) scores of each state's college-bound high school seniors.

In order to compete for a bounty of 8,000 national scholarships, students must complete an extensive application process.
