National Night Out, designed to reduce crime by building community, will be held Tuesday August 6, with over 800 block parties and 35,000 Minneapolitans expected to participate.
This year's theme -- not much different from the festival's annual concept -- is "Get Out, Get Acquainted." National Night Out organizers believe that if neighbors know each other, it's easier to watch out for each other and deter criminal activity.
For the second year in a row, Minneapolis will hold an NNO photo contest (the photo at left is from a Linden Hills block party last year). Call Lisa at 673-2812 or see www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/nno for more information.
