Rants & Raves

This new feature gives you a chance to tell us what you love and what irks you in Southwest. Send your rants and raves to Journal editor Sarah McKenzie at smckenzie@mnpubs.com. Or go online to southwestjournal.com and post your comments on the R&R link. Here are some thoughts from a couple Southwest folks.

Rave: Luminaries

To the organizers of the Luminary Loppet who have lit our lives with a magical winter evening event which brings together our community of winter loving young & old.

Rant and Rave: Dress to impress

This is both a rave & a rant. The rave is about Minneapolis’ fabulous restaurants and the indoor smoking ban (I wish there was an outdoor ban, too). The rant is, I miss the days when fine dining restaurants had dress codes. Yes, I know, that was way before the recession torpedoed the restaurant industry and they need all the business they can get. But, please, in those days, I wouldn’t have to worry about some slob at the next table wearing shorts and sandals. It’s like this — I’m enjoying my food here, sweets. I don’t want to see your hairy legs and your feet. Capice?
