Betsy Hodges announced today that several local officials have endorsed her campaign for mayor.
The list includes Hennepin County Commissioner Gail Dorfman, City Council Member John Quincy (Ward 11), Board of Estimation and Taxation Member David Wheeler and former Minneapolis School Board Member Peggy Flanagan.
“I am honored to have the support of people who also work every day for a better Minneapolis. I am proud of the work we have done together to make Minneapolis stronger and safer,” Hodges said in a press release.
The Dorfman endorsement is no surprise, as Hodges previously worked for in the commissioner’s office prior to running for City Council. Dorfman’s district includes much of Southwest Minneapolis.
“Betsy knows what it means to build healthy communities across this city. She is committed to the issues that will help every neighborhood thrive – stable housing, a clean and green environment, and a balanced multi-modal transportation system so people can get where they need to go,” Dorfman said in the release.
Quincy represents the neighborhoods just east of Hodges’s Ward 13.
Flanagan, when she was appointed, was the youngest school board member to serve. At the time, it was School Board was a citywide office.
Wheeler was elected to the Board of Estimate and Taxation in 2009 and plans to run again in 2013.
