Dorfman seeks support
For the past 11 years, I have been honored to serve as your Hennepin County Commissioner, representing the people of southwest Minneapolis and St. Louis Park. I have worked together with many of you to deliver real results for our communities — working to end homelessness, to develop a transit system for the future, to build healthy communities, and to provide access to quality services for people in need.
Together, we’ve built a coalition of neighbors, business leaders, the faith community and government to achieve tangible results for southwest Minneapolis.
— I fought for more bike/pedestrian trails for our part of the metro and worked to balance transportation needs with neighborhood livability on county road projects, including Lyndale Avenue and Lake Street.
— I formed a community advisory group to guide the planning for a new Walker Library, one that will be green and above-ground with lots of natural light.
— By creating the county’s Affordable Housing Incentive Fund, we’ve ensured the creation and preservation of more than 4,000 housing opportunities throughout Hennepin County.
— I co-authored the Hennepin County Smoking Ban, which led the way for a statewide smoking ban to protect non-smokers and workers in the service industry.
— And I have been part of creating alternatives to youth incarceration, helping youth turn their lives around by positively re-engaging them with their community.
I seek reelection as your County Commissioner because our work is far from done. We face significant challenges in these tough times. I am more committed than ever to work with you to build healthy communities across the city and county. I am grateful to have been endorsed by the DFL, labor unions, and women’s groups. I humbly ask for your vote on Aug. 10.
