(Editor’s note: We have a new member of the Journals’ news team — Steve Pease. He’s tackling our government beat, which was briefly held by Brady Gervais, who now works for the St. Paul Pioneer Press.)
My name is Steve Pease, and I am the one you want to call if you have a hot news tip or insights you want to share about the city.
The majority of my time will be spent sitting in on as many meetings as possible at City Hall so you don’t have to. I will toothcomb the city budget, eye City Council actions and show why they are important to those living in Downtown and
I have also been charged with covering the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners and how its decisions affect Minneapolitans. Furthermore, you can expect weekly committee updates and in-depth profiles on the people you’ve elected.
Be sure to check the website, as I will be producing multimedia stories and short interviews that will work as an addendum to my print coverage.
I was born and raised a Packers fan in Wisconsin. That doesn’t mean I worship the frozen tundra Brett Favre walks on. However, I do believe you’ve got to respect the man.

I have worked in print since October 2000. For the last year-and-a-half, I have been covering Richfield as a reporter. There, I covered a range of beats, including city government, crime, airport issues and the arts. I also wrote a lot of people profiles and documented both everday-and out-of-the-ordinary community issues.
After moving to Uptown in April 2006 with my then-girlfriend, I have since bought a 100-year-old condo in Capitol Heights neighborhood of St. Paul with my now-fiancé.
I firmly believe that in journalism “You’ve got to go to know.” Feel free to let me know what you know, or what you think I might need to know. I can be reached at 436-4373 or email@example.com.
