This is Brady Gervais reporting for duty.
I am here to cover City Hall, focusing on how the decisions our elected officials make affect the folks living in the Southwest and Downtown neighborhoods.
I will scour the city budget, sit through hours of committee meetings and presentations, and meet with leaders and those who work behind the scenes every week. I will run back and forth between my cubicle and City Hall a few times every week, maybe more. If you see me racing through the skyway maze this winter, say hi.
I’ll do this not only because it’s my job (which I love), but darn it, I know it matters to you, too.
You should know I’ve done this kind of thing before. I covered the state Legislature for The Minnesota Daily. I spent a year interning and covering the Minnesota Congressional delegation in Washington, D.C., for the Star Tribune. Maybe you read my articles. I used to write under the byline of Brady Averill. That is, until I married my high school sweetheart this summer.
I grew up in rural Minnesota but attended college here in Minneapolis. I’ve loved the city ever since. I’m particularly infatuated with its lakes (who isn’t?), and you can find me logging miles around them on weekends and sometimes after work.
I look forward to covering City Hall and getting to know more people who live in and make this city work. I still have plenty to learn, so please give me a call or drop me an e-mail if you have a story tip or suggestion. I can’t wait to hear from you. I can be reached at 436-4373 or [email protected]
