We are lucky to have several good candidates running for Hennepin County’s District 3 commissioner, most of whom agree about the issues our county needs to address in the coming years.
However, the candidates, while all well meaning, are not all equally qualified. Hennepin County needs a strong, experienced leader who can expand on the work of departing commissioner Gail Dorfman, particularly in the fight to end homelessness and develop a decent regional transit system. As a longtime Minneapolis resident, currently living in the Linden Hills neighborhood, I know that Anne Mavity has the vision, energy, and track record of results to lead Hennepin County as the next District 3 commissioner.
She has devoted her entire career to public service, having led the way in public policy efforts and financing strategies to address affordable housing needs, facilitated a unique collaboration of schools, businesses, and nonprofits to address youth homelessness, and as a St. Louis Park city council member directed several key environmental efforts, including the adoption of city-wide curbside organic recycling and pro walking/biking infrastructure policies.
This is a woman with enormous energy, tremendous experience, and a big heart. I know Anne can lead the way toward a more equitable, connected, and sustainable Hennepin County. Please join me in voting for Anne Mavity on April 29.
