Youth Farm is converting one of its gardens at 2807 Pillsbury Ave. into a community garden for the summer.
Youth Farm recently solicited ideas for the site while it focuses on other gardens this season.
“A lot of what we’re hearing is people in the neighborhood want a community garden,” said Phil Rooney, South Minneapolis director of neighborhood programs. He noted that Soo Line Community Garden has a waiting list.
Anyone interested in a garden plot can contact Rooney at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rooney said many Youth Farm participants have grown up and moved on. Staff are beginning anew to reach out to new youth participants, he said. Throughout the summer, youth in the program learn about farming, growing and cooking.
