Hennepin County will hold a pair of household hazardous waste collection events in the next couple of weeks.
The county will hold its first event June 15 and June 16 at St. Louis Park Middle School (2025 Texas Ave. S., St. Louis Park — enter off West 22nd Street). The second will be June 22 and June 23 at Pillsbury Elementary School (2250 NE Garfield St. — enter off 22nd Ave Northeast).
The events will run from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. each day.
The county will accept household, lawn and garden products, mercury-containing items and auto and fuel wastes from residents at no costs. Accepted items will include batteries, cleaners, pesticides, thermometers, thermostats, diesel fuel, gasoline and kerosene.
The county will not accept appliances, asbestos, electronics, explosives, garbage and medicines or infectious wastes, among other materials. It has two year-round drop-off facilities where residents can get rid of recycling, electronics, appliances and household hazardous wastes.
