Nicollet townhouses add parking following protest

The city Planning Commission has approved a request to reduce the drive aisle in a new townhome building slated for 5605 Nicollet Ave.

The variance will allow residents to use the alley for vehicle maneuvering, thereby creating three parking spaces behind the building. The developer requested the variance after some residents protested a previous proposal without parking.

The two-and-a-half story building will have six two-bedroom units, ranging from 800-980 square feet.
