The neighborhood takes its name from Robert Fulton, the engineer and artist who invented the steamboat in the 19th century. Fulton is bisected by 50 th Street West, a busy thoroughfare with a commercial district that extends well into Edina. A largely residential neighborhood, houses were built here mostly in the 1920s and 1930s. (Source: City of Minneapolis Neighborhood Profiles)
